What makes your life worthwhile – and our relationship work?
They are both the same answer, and it is hard to find, create, manage, or enjoy. Wherever we go and whatever we do, ‘we’ face the same challenge, seek the same ‘holy grail’ – consensus that allows our cooperation that provides us benefits – MUTUALLY.
Without consensus, you may not get to think what you like, do what you want, have what you desire, or get what you desperately need. Neither our faith nor our families nor our politics nor our communities nor even our nations are found to be functional without consensus. However, with consensus they can each become supportive to the other and empowering at all levels to create sustainable CHANGE.
Consensus is the dynamic definition of freedom but it can become the oppressive tyrant of coercion. It’s ‘bipolar’ tendency demands constant insight and oversight – and THAT is exactly how it is created – and how it must be maintained.
CONSENSUS occurs at the intersection of fact and feeling, reason and rant, insight and impulse, freedom and oppression, history and opportunity. Objectivity is its ethic and transparency is its outcome.
To have consensus, our information must become insight, and our vision must become vigilance lest we find ourselves wearing only ‘the emperor’s new clothes’ or having only ‘the blind man’s view of the elephant’. We need the astronaut’s view of the planet, free from the local influence of our earthly position(s). To have consensus we need FORESIGHT, and we need to:
SEE the CONDITIONS that challenge and impact us all
SEE the opinions of others through COLLABORATION
SEE the root cause upon which CONSENSUS is assured
SEE the initiatives on which CHANGE can be meaningful
- and the new dimension of that cycle is ‘NOW’, at the click of a mouse!
The internet has enabled us to share our concerns and publish our opinions. At some level, it has enabled our collective stories to create momentum. What it is now poised to do, is to assist us in crafting objective consensus on which viable change can be initiated. That will occur when we all have a say in that mutual destiny within those ‘U-Netted Nations‘.
That is the essence of a simple 4-question approach (ASK4 ) that can engage us in cooperative problem-solving, globally, online, 24/7.
How can we come to agreement? – ASK for it
How can we resolve common concerns – ASK for it
How can we both have what we need – ASK for it
How can we establish and maintain individual freedom – ASK for it
Where can we go to find existing solutions or create new ones – ASK for it
It’s not that difficult – isn’t it about time to:
