The Gilbane Group recently published their 2008 report about the challenges and opportunities of social networking (by Geoffrey Bock and Steve Paxhia). <get your copy here>. So, what is next – in the social/business interface?
What must change for us to benefit – from ‘chat’?
What if we just surmise for a moment? Imagine what we might conjecture or postulate about how to structure a cooperative approach that leads us to an equitable consensus about mutually beneficial solutions.
That approach would at the least require a process designed to:
- Endear and then acknowledge all stakeholder viewpoints
- Identify current impacts and desired alternates
- Uncover root cause by objective consensus
- Enable corrective action(s) by priority, and through cooperation
We would also likely ’surmIZE’ that to enable our success, we would need the following minimal constructs, – we would want to:
- Normalize – to enable any participant at any level in any culture/language to describe THEIR situation/need/or offer
- Formalize – the process for collecting the data so that forward progress can be initiated/tracked/completed/measured
- Legitimize – evaluate and then endorse those who cooperate toward solutions as champions (ex: ‘EXEMPLARS’ – not Avatars)
- Recognize – give real rewards for their submittal and support (ex: ‘U-Value’)
- Optimize – engage, manage, and enhance a continuous improvement process and to monitor pertinent results (ex: ASK4™)
- Organize – so that others can share in the creation of viable solutions and
- Realize – these same cooperative benefits, globally
It is not sufficient just to have a casual ‘chat’ if results are what is desired. Purposeful conversation is necessary, – ‘Collaboration on Purpose‘. That is what can change ‘casual’ into ‘causal‘ – and into benefits, for all.
What’s NEXT – with YOU? – care to comment?
- dare to COOPERATE?
