It's about time… to take INDIVIDUAL responsibility for our MUTUAL benefit..

Un-Wavering

We stand wavering on the brink of unlimited possibilities – of solutions yet to be dreamed, created, and deployed to solve the problems of the world. And yet we stand…, unsure of what to do, or what to do first.

What really stands to change? Perhaps it will be the person who finds the answer that provides them the courage to finally chose a mate or a career. Perhaps it will be the relationship in which true communication is finally initiated. Perhaps it will be the customer who finds an avenue to report to the CEO what is really wanted instead of what the company mistakenly provides. Perhaps it will be the employee who finally offers a suggestion or makes the counter-point that saves the company. Perhaps it will be the board member who takes a stand for those being served (outside), instead of those who are self-serving (inside). Perhaps it will be a politician who garners the personal fortitude to instead become a true statesman, and respectfully serve their city, state, or country.

Perhaps it will be the walls around the ‘bastions of reluctance’ in your life, your team, your business, your non-profit, your community, your country, or in OUR world.

Where the People fear the Government – you have tyranny;
Where the Government fears the People – you have rights.
(Thomas Jefferson)

Only the un-wavering will become first-adopters and live on the ‘bleeding edge’ where critics won’t dare to risk their treasured ‘egos’. Those same critics will call us back with their ‘fair warnings’ and beg us not to venture too close to the edge of what is ‘known’ **. They will await the return of those rare venturous souls who dare to believe, to dream, to act.

Upwardly-sanitized reporting will continue to come from the oppressed and from employees, managers, and other co-conspirators who undermine leadership’s ability to know, and thereby to lead.

‘Flat out’** proclamation of misguided beliefs will continue, much of it online in the collected monologues of “he-said-she-said-they said-so-I-said…”. Proclamation (monologue) is far different than dialogue or discourse. And, questions are pre-eminent.

The changed approach will have to include the continuous collection of insight, objective analysis of root cause, un-sanitized reporting of options, and un-intended consensus that can drive empowered cooperation and sustainable results.

While our former means of communication (proclamation) may have been a little ‘flat’**, for those willing to “ASK4-it” – the benefits of true discourse and cooperation will yield multi-dimensional benefits – all in our very near future.

      But it's the safest thing we've got." -DG
